A loan of $400 helped to buy fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides to plant 7,000 square meters of beans and to pay for labor.

Juan Francisco's story

Juan and one of his sons appear in the photo. Juan is 40 years old, married and has seven children, aged 2, 5, 8, 13, 16, 18 and 20 years old. Four of them go to school and the oldest one no longer lives with them. Eight of them live together in their house and they all depend on Juan. Juan has been working as a bricklayer for 10 years. He also is a farmer. He learned both of these trades from his father, who he worked with since he was 12 years old.

Juan will use the loan to buy fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides to plant 7,000 square meters of beans and to pay for the labor required. In the future Juan wants to expand his house so his large family can live more comfortably.
