A loan of $725 helped to buy organic soil amendments.

Ruth's story

Ruth, 25, is a hardworking woman. She lives with her husband and her young child in the house she has rented for two years.

Ruth has worked in agriculture for 10 years. She says she's a very responsible person who learned to be enterprising from her father when she was very young. Thanks to the bulls she bought she can plow the land and minimize her expenses. When she started her family, thanks to her husband she was able to sell her food in the city of Lima, the capital of the country. When the harvest is small she sells only in Tarma, where she lives. Not long ago she and her husband bought a car, with which he works in public transportation.

Ruth hopes to continue improving her potato, pea, and corn plants so she can keep on saving money, because her next goal is to build her own house.

This is her first Kiva loan. She's grateful for the support she's getting and promises to make her payments punctually, as she has done with similar loans.

Ruth will invest the 2000 soles [PEN] in organic soil amendments to nourish her plants.
