A loan of $1,375 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Marcos's story

Marcos, 60, is married to Rosa and lives with one of their daughters in their own home.

Marcos is an intelligent and social man. He has worked as a farmer since he was very young. "I have like 30 years in the farming industry. A lot of good and bad things have happened, but you always learn something" he says. He mostly grows peas, potatoes and gladiolus flowers but he also grows corn and barley, but in small quantities.

He says that for a harvest to be profitable you must risk by investing. His next goal is to open a store that sells items to install irrigation systems with his son.

But for now he is focused on planting more peas and corn and in this way keep saving. He will need support to reach these goals.

This is his fifth Kiva loan. Every time he has proven to be a responsible and committed person.

Marcos will invest the 3,800 PEN ($1,375) in purchasing organic fertilizer for his crops.
