Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,000 helped to buy bananas, avocados, tomatoes, plantains, watermelon, melon, etc. for her business.

Margarita's story

Margarita is a very hard worker and a very responsible person. She lives in a community in southern Honduras with her family. She has been in business selling fruit for eight years.

Margarita travels to different nearby areas to offer her products. She needs this loan to buy bananas, avocados, tomatoes, plantains, watermelon, melon, etc. to keep doing her job. Margarita expects her sales to increase with this loan, which will be of great help to her because she doesn't have the products necessary to cover her customers' daily orders. She hopes to be able to improve her and her family's quality of life by increasing her household income.

Margarita's short term plans are to expand her business so that she can keep supporting her family.
