Benkadi Group's story

The BENKADI group consists exclusively of married women who average 43 years of age and four children each. They live in extended traditional families in the village of Dibida located in the commune of Kalake, prefecture de Baroueli, which is in the region of Ségou (4th administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They know one another as neighbors and friends, and through ties of kinship. Their activities include the sale of cereals, fabrics, and restaurant services.

This is their 4th group loan. Fatoumata sells fried wheat flour. She is the group member sitting in the center. She plans to buy one sack of flour and one half sack of sugar. She conducts her sales twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. She expects to earn an average monthly profit of 10,000 FCFA, which she will use to sustain her activity and to help with the household expenses.
