A loan of $625 helped to buy fertilizers, manure, leaf fertilizer and other supplies to maintain her coffee crop.

Rosa Lilian's story

Rosa Lilian is 32 years old and in a relationship. She is described as a fighter who has an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to better herself and get ahead. Rosa Lilian has five children, all of whom help her with the jobs to maintain their coffee crop such as weeding, pruning, fertilizing and applying manure. She finished the third grade, but was unable to stay in school because her parents did not have enough money. Rosa Lilian’s parents taught her how to work the land at a very young age, and she has worked growing coffee since childhood. Her family continues growing coffee today, and she says that it is their only source of income. Rosa Lilian says that they own the fields where they grow their coffee, thanks to their sacrifices and hard work. Their fields are a 20-minute walk from their home. Rosa Lilian is requesting this loan to buy fertilizers, manure, leaf fertilizer and other supplies to maintain her coffee crop. She hopes to have a healthy and profitable harvest so that she can make a good income and continue to invest in her coffee crop. Her goal is to plant more coffee so that she can improve her family’s income and, little by little, increase the size of her harvest. Rosa Lilian says that her profits will help to ensure her children’s future and will allow her to give them an education and continue to invest in her crop.
