A loan of $600 helped to buy supplies for his coffee plantations and pay for labor.

Humberto's story

Humberto, 70, is married and lives with his wife, who is his first priority. With this loan he is planning to buy fertilizers, some products to improve the soil’s condition and fungicides, and to pay for the labor needed in his coffee plantations. He will also buy some coffee plants to replant with the objective of increasing the density and have a better production during the coming years. He wants to make good use of the soil’s fertility and the weather conditions favoring the crop.

With these improvements he hopes to make better profits and improve his family’s living conditions. He also hopes to be able to invest a little in his plantations and achieve some of his goals. This is the first loan he receives from FUDECOSUR. He had not received loans from state-owned banks before, but FUDECOSUR granted him a loan more easily and with a much lower interest rate.
