A loan of $800 helped to buy more new clothes to sell,.

Bran's story

Bran is 46 years old and lives in the town of Koboko in the Arua region of Uganda. He is married and has seven children with five of them currently in school. For the past 13 years, Bran has been working hard to manage his small retail shop, which sells clothes.

To help expand his business, Bran has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more new clothes to sell, and will help Bran to generate greater profits and pay school fees for his children. Bran hopes that in the future he will be able to open up another branch of the same business.

Bran is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Bran who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
