A loan of $2,500 helped a member to purchase metal.

Poderoso Imperial Group's story

The communal bank "Poderoso Imperal" will start its fourth lending cycle with Pro Mujer as a part of Centro Focal de Santiago II. The communal bank is made up of eight members and run by a board of directors. Señora Verónica is the president of the board of directors. The members' businesses are varied and include: making clothing, selling "pasankalla" (sweet popcorn), window sales, selling potatoes and coconuts, meat sales, weaving blankets, running a book store and brick laying.

The loan they are taking out will benefit small micro-entreprenuers, of which Señora Verónica is one. She says that she joined Pro Mujer two years ago at the invitation of some friends, who were members of the institution. Currently, señora Verónica's business is a locksmithing workshop. She tells us that she started the business at the recommendation of her mother-in-law, who helped her with the capital to open the business alongside her husband.

The loan señora Verónica will take out is for increasing her capital to purchase metal. She will acquire it from the tropical communities of La Paz Department and later fabricate and sell it in her shop. This line of work allows her to generate the resources needed to maintain her home as well as she can. She is married and has three children.

When asked what she likes best about Pro Mujer, señora Verónica says she likes learning about health and the trainings.
