Rocky's Group's story

Created on September 18, 2013 at its inauguration in the public square of the village, this "banc villageois" loan group comprises women determined to undertake income-generating activities and strengthen their financial capabilities. They have lived in the same village for decades and maintain relations of solidarity and mutual aid. They are active in running small businesses.

Mrs. Rocky (in the inset and sitting to the right), is the group's featured borrower. She is 44 years old, married and mother of four children including two girls and two boys.

Her business is to retail food products namely: rice, refined oil, green tea. She buys in one of the sub-region's weekly markets for subsequent retail sales.
