A loan of $2,875 helped a member to buy mobile phones.

Esperanza - 2V Group's story

The "Esperanza - 2V" communal bank is starting its fifth loan cycle with "Pro Mujer", though the VIlla Tejada regional office. The group has eight members, and is directed by a board that has Lidia as the secretary. The members have different businesses, including a dressmaking workshop, selling phones, selling trainers, a grocery store, and producing shoes. This loan will benefit the small business entrepreneurs in Lidia's group. Lidia tells us that she joined "Pro Mujer" two years ago following an invitation from a friend who was already a member. Lidia currently has a business selling mobile phones and she says that she started this business with her husband ten years ago when she realised that this was a profitable product. Lidia is applying for this loan to increase her working capital - she will use it to buy mobile phones from bulk sellers in the city of El Alto, before selling them on. This work has allowed Lidia to earn an income to support her family as best as possible. Lidia has a partner and they have two children. When asked what she likes about "Pro Mujer", Lidia tells us that she likes the health and business training.
