Gladis's story

Gladis, 53, is married to Aurelio and has three children whom she loves a lot. They live together comfortably in their own house.

Gladis earns a living making and selling men's and women's underwear with a machine that she bought with her savings. She also sells breakfast and lunch in the front part of her house. She started sewing 21 years ago and selling food three years ago. In the beginning she sewed for her family and neighbors. Thanks to her good work and the help of her sister, who's also learning the trade, she has managed to expand her clientele.

Gladis had financial problems in her home because of a lack of work, so she set up a business to generate her own income. This is her fourth Kiva loan and she's grateful for the financial help she receives so she can get ahead. She also promises to make her payments punctually.

Gladis will buy fabric, stretch lace, and other sewing supplies with the requested amount of 3500 nuevos soles [PEN].
