A loan of $625 helped to buy clothing, footwear and perfume to sell.

Elena's story

Elena is 32 years old, married, and has three children between the ages of 8 and 12. She works selling clothing, footwear and perfume. Her customers come from the neighborhood where she lives with her family, and from the surrounding area.

Two years ago, while working as an administrative assistant in a hardware store, Elena began her business to supplement the family income. Her husband is a motorcycle taxi driver. When she lost her job, she started working at her business full-time. She sells on credit from 7 in the morning until 7 in the evening, taking breaks for meals and to purchase products from suppliers who give her the best prices available.

Elena is requesting her first loan with Kiva and the field partner to buy clothing, footwear and perfume to sell. She says that she will be able to fill the orders that her customers have placed from now on. Elena says that her goal is to expand her business so that she will be able to help her children to become distinguished and successful professionals.
