Sheily's story

Sheily is 45 years old and married to German, who is a teacher and the father of her daughter, age 17. She lives with them, her sister and her mother-in-law in their own home. Sheily works selling carbonated drinks in a variety of flavors. She says that her customers like their drinks very cold, so she stores them in a large freezer which she bought with the help of her father-in-law.

Sheily also sells many different kinds and brands of snacks. She says that she wins her customer’s loyalty by waiting on them with kindness, and ensures that they will recommend her to other people, who later become new customers. Sheily has been working in her business for four years, and until now has been running it with the help of her daughter. She says that she used to have hardly enough money to pay for her household expenses, so she decided to start a new business to improve her income. She says that having a business makes her feel useful. Sheily plans to continue with her business to make it grow, and she hopes to open a corner grocery store in the future.

This is Sheily’s third Kiva loan. She says that she is grateful for the financial support she receives to move ahead, and that she promises to make her payments on time. Sheily is requesting this loan of 2,500 PEN to buy snacks and various flavors and brands of carbonated drinks at wholesale prices.
