A loan of $1,000 helped to buy cattle.

Veronica Del Carmen's story

Veronica, 31, is married and has two children, ages 5 and 7. They are both in school. She was only able to go to school until sixth grade due to her family's economic difficulties. Her husband is a livestock trader. He buys them and then sells the animals at a better price. Her two children depend on her. For about three years, she has worked with her husband buying and selling livestock. Her father was a rancher and she learned how to care for the animals from him. Before, Veronica sold tamales, pupusas, and other street foods with her mother, but she realized that selling livestock bears more fruit. The loan will be used to purchase livestock to sell later and this way, earn a good profit if the price of the animals does not go down. Like all responsible parents, Veronica's dream is for her children to finish their studies at university, and also for her to earn good profits from her business and expand her sales.
