Abdul's story

Meet 38-year-old Abdul from Waterloo, Western Area Rural District near Freetown. He is married with two children aged 10 years. In 1991, Abdul established his slippers business. He began his business because after he completed sixth form, his family could not afford to pay his college fees. He raised money to start up his business, and before that he was a massuer. He works at the business ten hours per day and seven days per week. He says that the main challenge to the business lack of enough capital to run his business.

Abdul requires a loan in order to buy slippers, shoes and ladies jeans to expand his business. He hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow him to increase his business and repay his loan. In the future, Abdul plans to renovate his business structure and open another outlet.
