Two and a half years ago, Juan and his wife Ingrid came to the United States with the hope of leading more financially independent lives. One year ago, Juan started his own business, J&I Mobile Express.
Juan had worked in a similar business doing technical assistance and also had been working in the same field in the Dominican Republic, his natal country. He sells mobile phones and accessories, offers repairs, and also offers remittance services to Latin America. His store is located within a large laundromat and he opens 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
"I started my own business because I wanted personal growth... the business is actually my passion. I like to offer great customer service and meet customer expectations," he says. Juan needs a loan in order to pay for a new computer and buy more inventory to meet the growing demand. He hopes to someday expand his store into its own location.
