A loan of $1,600 helped to buy agricultural supplies and to pay labor costs.

Jose Orbelio's story

José, 40, is single and has no children; he lives with his parents who share the agricultural tasks with him. Due to his family’s life conditions in the past he wasn’t able to complete his secondary education; he only attended one year of high-school. He’s worked in agriculture for 20 years. His father taught him to work when he was still very young and when he was able to work alone leased land to work apart. He’s president of his community’s governing board and also has plumbing skills. To get to his fields, he must walk about 600 meters. He spends about 6 hours daily working his crops. The loan will be used to buy agricultural supplies like fertilizer, herbicide and pesticides and to pay labor costs to prepare the soil for planting. He intends to continue working growing beans and managing a nursery that will be donated to his community. He will do everything possible to maintain said installations.
