A loan of $1,425 helped to purchase agricultural supplies to support and protect her coffee crop.

Bessy Valeska's story

Bessy is a young woman who is 21-years old. She is married and the mother of one dependent son who lives with her and her husband. Bessy was able to complete primary school, thanks to her parents' support. They were also the ones who taught her to grow coffee. Currently, Bessy and her husband make their living growing coffee. He is the only one who helps her work her land, which she owns thanks to a family inheritance given to her by her parents. The land is located about 40 minutes by foot from her house, and she gets there by walking.

Bessy is currently requesting a loan from the COMIXMUL cooperative to purchase compost, coffee formula, fertilizer, plants and other items to support and protect her coffee plants. These items will help her to get a good harvest and an attractive bean for her customers.

Bessy's plans are to improve and fertilize the land she plants on so that her coffee plants maintain good foliage and healthy beans. This will ensure a good harvest later. Her dream, like that of all mothers, is to support her son in his education and be able to send him to a university. He would then graduate with a degree and not go through the same situation that they did in their youth.
