A loan of $3,800 helped a member to purchase wigs, hair extensions, and cosmetic products to sell.

Fatou's Group's story

This group is composed of 27 women who live in the same village. Their work involves sewing, hairstyling, and commerce.

Ms. Ndéye Khady is the group's representative. She is a 28-years-old married woman and a mother with a daughter. Ms. Ndéye Khady has been styling hair at her home since 2004 and has a fair amount of experience. In the photo, she is the one standing at the right and dressed in orange with her left hand raised.

Her loan will be used to purchase some hair extensions, wigs, and cosmetics; she can establish a good customer base, since there are not enough hair salons in her town.

With the profits, she saves money in the system and at a local bank, and she supports her family.

In this group: Fatou, Bousso, Asta Walo*, Anta, Ndeye Maty, Mbene, Ndeye Khady, May, Fatou Nar*, Amy, Gaye, Soda, Ndoumbe, Alima, Fatma, Ndeye, Khady*, Ndioba, Coumba, Mame Diarra, Mbathio*, Fatou*, Mame Faty, Bintou, Maguette, Momy, Kine
