A loan of $4,075 helped a member to buy more bags of ground nut seeds hulled for transformation.

Bouya's Group's story

This "banc villageois" newly inagurated this September 18, 2013 consists of women who have a fervent wish to join the "banc villageois" program. They have all lived in the same village for several years and sustain relationships of solidarity and helping each other. Their main business is small shops and food crops in the rain. Madam Bouya (standing to the extreme right with one hand raised) is the featured borrower of the group. She is married, 25 years old and mother to 3 children of whom 2 are girls and 1 is a boy. She is a very dynamic woman who transforms local products more specifically ground nut paste. She buys the seeds by 50 kilogram bags for around 15,000 FCFA per bag, transforms them to resell the paste in 5 to 20 kilogram buckets for prices ranging from 5,000 to 17,000 FCFA according to the market. This new loan will allow her to buy more bags of ground nut seeds hulled for transformation. With the profits she plans partly to expand her businesses and partly to contribute to the children's schooling.
