Omm Sai Self Help Group's story

Sanjulata, a citizen from a rural village located in the Khurda district, is 41 years old and lives with her husband and her three children, all of whom are dependent on her.

For the last four years, she has been engaged in the activity of farming a paddy and selling vegetables. Her husband supplements their income by working as a laborer. With the current business, she can earn about 5,000 INR per month, and that is very low for her monthly expenses.

She, along with eight other women from her village, formed a group, and she was elected as group president. She and her group members have requested a loan of 135,000 INR. She will use her portion to purchase fertilizers, pesticides, seeds and to pay for a work force. She hopes to earn more income after getting the loan so she can improve her standard of living.
