Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $825 helped to improve the infrastructure of her bakery.

Jeffry Lorena's story

Jeffry is from Puerto Cabezas. She is a cheerful and enterprising person. She is 27 years old, married, and has two small children. A year ago she set up her own small bakery business and began producing bread with 25 pounds of flour. Currently she makes bread with 150 pounds of flour a day.

Recently she requested a loan to improve the infrastructure of her bakery, expand it, and buy more products such as flour, sugar, yeast, etc. By means of the income she earns from her business, she hopes to continue supporting her children's development.
