Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone is very pleased to present to you members of the “Action” group. These are small scale entrepreneurs who have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to apply for a loan of SLL 500,000.00 for each in order to invest in their respective businesses.

Mariatu is the featured leader of this group. Mariatu is 40 years old and married with three children – two in primary school and one in secondary school. Mariatu sells bananas, plantains, groundnuts, yams, beans, etc. and has been a businesswoman for twenty-one years now. With the help of this loan, Mariatu will invest in her business by buying bananas, plantains, groundnuts, yams, beans, etc. in bulk to add to her current stock.
