A loan of $525 helped a member to buy a body for a Chingchi rickshaw.

Zahida's Group's story

Zahida has taken a loan for her husband, who drives a chingchi rickshaw (a type of three-wheeled rickshaw which consists of a motorbike). This rickshaw is not powerful, so it is used only to cover short distances. Its body is made with polyester which is not enough strong to bear jerks over the roads. Now the rickshaw body needs to be replaced because it rattles during driving. Zahida is a 38-year-old lady, living with her husband and eight children in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner, BRAC Pakistan, so that her husband would be able to buy a chingchi rickshaw body. She hopes that she will be able to make enough savings until her young children are grown, and that she would be successful in providing higher education to her children. Zahida says thanks to Kiva and to its field partner, BRAC Pakistan.
