A loan of $1,450 helped to buy grocery products such as rice, sugar, and soft drinks, among other items.

Norma's story

Norma is 35 years old. She is married to Lucio and has 2 children, who live with her in her own house. She is the owner of a grocery store where she has worked for more than 5 years, and it is her principal source of income for her and her children. She does this work alongside her work in the fields, since she only goes to help her partner at harvest and maintenance times, but since she also has the obligation to watch over her small children, she decided to outfit the first floor of her house with the help of her husband to establish her current business. When she started she used the small savings she had to buy merchandise such as food and soft drinks, which were sufficient to obtain her first profits and stock her business little by little. She currently has among her merchandise staple goods such as rice, sugar, cereals, sweets, fruits, and vegetables.

This is her first loan with Kiva and from now on she hopes to have the confidence necessary to move forward. This time she wants to have 4,000 nuevos soles to buy wholesale merchandise such as bags of rice and sugar and packages of soft drinks and cereals because they are the products most in demand in her establishment.
