Fanny Leonor's story

The "10 de Noviembre" communal bank meets every fortnight in the Montecristi canton, known for its rich, pre-colonial culture, and for its artisan products, which are known at both national and international levels. It is from here that the famous Panama hats originate.

It is here that Fanny lives. She is 52 years old, is married and has four adult children. One of the children still lives at home. Fanny's husband is a builder.

Fanny is a very good mother and wife and likes to work in order to help her husband get ahead. Nine years ago Fanny took over the food stall at a local school. She prepares food to sell to the children - she makes pastries, tortillas, "corviche" (a fish and banana dish), and "ceviche" (a fish dish), as well as natural and nutritious juices. Every day Fanny varies the many so her customers do no get bored. As a result the children are very happy and eat whatever she brings to sell.

Fanny will use this loan to buy supplies to prepare the food. She has been with the communal bank since the beginning and likes the help she receives through the loans.

Fanny's dream is to prosper.
