Isatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 44-year-old Isatu from Tombo western rural area in Freetown. She is married with seven children between the ages of five years and 25 years. One of her children is attending school. She started business because she needs to create a permanent source of income to support the home. Isatu runs a retail shop; she sells toothpaste, soap, drinks and fishing equipment. She has been running this business since 2000. She works in the business seven days a week, twelve hours per day. Isatu says that the main challenge to her business is that transporting her goods from the city to her business place is very difficult. Isatu has requested a loan in order to purchase food items including toothpaste, soap, drinks and fishing equipment for resale. The extra income from this loan will allow her to buy a plot of land and renovate her house. In the future, she plans to build a permanent business location. She thanks you for your support!
