Mariama B's story

Meet Mariama. She is a 48-year-old from Waterloo, Eastern area in Sierra Leone. She is married with six children. She has two additional dependents at home. In 2003, Mariama established a restaurant business within the Waterloo community. She began her business because she wants to create a permanent source of income to support her children; she works at the business from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, six days per week. She says that the main challenge to her business is inflation in the price of goods. Mariama requires a loan in order to purchase more soft drinks, bags of rice and cooking seasoning. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to become more successful and pay her children's school fees. In the future, Mariama plans to expand her restaurant to higher level. She thanks you for your support.
