A loan of $925 helped to purchase milk, sugar, cigarettes, soap and drinks for resale.

Hawa's story

Meet Hawa. She is a 38-year-old from Tombo in the western rural area of Sierra Leone. She is married with 3 children between the ages of 4 and 12 years. Two of her children are currently attending school. In 2005, Hawa established a general merchandise business within a busy market area. She began her business because she wanted to change her status of living. She works at the business from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., 7 days per week. She says that the main challenge to this business is that during the rainy season sales are very slow. Hawa requires a loan in order to purchase milk, sugar, cigarettes, soap and drinks for resale. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to become more successful and improve her standard of living. In the future, Hawa plans to open another outlet. She thanks you for your support.
