A loan of $1,025 helped to buy costume jewelery, accessories, and cases and spare parts for cell phones.

Yenny Adelina's story

The communal bank '30 de Agosto' (30 August) get together every fifteen days at the Picoaza parish in the city of Portoviejo. The place is well known for being a very commercial area, as well as for its traditional festivals of 'San Pedro' and 'San Pablo' and the cheerfulness of its people.

This is where Yenny, a 32-year-old woman, lives. She lives with her husband who she has two children with, one 18 and the other 4. The eldest studies at university and the youngest is at kindergarten. Her husband is a trader.

Yenny is a very good wife who is taking the loan to help her husband. He works as a trader and sells cases, accessories and spare parts for cell phones, for which he travels all the way to Manta to sell his products. In her free time Yenny also sells costume jewelery, but only in her area. She sells on credit and collects payment every week. They both work every day. He works almost all the day while she works only when she is not busy. They have been working for more than ten years in this field, which allows them to get ahead and make sure that their children have everything they need.

She will use this loan to buy costume jewelery, accessories, and cases and spare parts for cell phones. She has been in the communal bank for 3 loan cycles and she likes it because the loans help her to finance her business. Her dream is to have her own shop.
