A loan of $800 helped to buy coffee to sell.

Venny's story

Venny is a fifty-year-old woman who lives in the town of Kalisizo in the central region of Uganda. She looks after five orphans, whom she says lost their parents, and being a sister to the deceased she took on the responsibility. She has been able to sustain the family with the funding from UGAFODE.

She operates a seasonal produce store in the town to earn a living, and through the funding from UGAFODE she has managed to push the children to higher levels of education.

With the loan she has applied for, she hopes to buy seasonal coffee for trade and renovate her rentals in the same town so she has a monthly income.
She faces the problem of lack of enough capital since her business is seasonal, and she needs to have enough cash on hand all the time.

In the future she hopes to relocate to the village and buy a larger piece of land to practice commercial agriculture as she gets older.
