Nueva Esperanza (Cuenca) Group's story

The Nueva Esperanza [New Hope] credit group is made up of 8 women who live on the outskirts of the city of Cuenca. This city is characterised by the natural beauty which surrounds it and its beautiful architecture. It has 4 rivers running through it and has been a World Heritage Site since December 1999. The members are very cheerful and with great charisma are always looking for a way to improve their household financial stability so they can make progress in life.

One of the members of the group is Verónica, who is 27 years old and is married. From her marriage she has 2 children aged 5 and 2 and the older son is studying at a little school in the city. Her husband works as a public employee. They do not have their own house so they live in rented accommodation. Verónica spends most of her time looking after her children who are still small, but in order to contribute to the household finances she sells cosmetics. She works every day and has been doing this for 3 years. She also sells clothing through catalogues.

She will use the money from her loan to buy cosmetics and clothing in order to grow the business. Her goal is to travel and get to know other countries.
