A loan of $925 helped to purchase organic manure.

Carlos's story

Carlos is 55 and divorced from the mother of his three adult children, who live on their own. Carlos lives on land owned by his employer, where he does farm labor and also grows his own crops and cares for his own animals.

Carlos plants and harvests citrus fruits and a variety of regional crops, including yucca, bananas, peppers, and others. He also raises chickens, turkeys, cows, and other animals. Carlos's employer allows him to raise animals and crops on a plot of land in exchange for Carlos's work on the employer's farm. Carlos works his plot independently and only hires temporary laborers to help with plantings. He enjoys farming tremendously as he's always in a natural environment and has time to do many other things.

Carlos hopes to maintain production and be able to purchase his own land in the future. He will use the loan funds, 2,500 soles, to purchase organic manure for planting. He is grateful for the financial support he's receiving that will allow him to move forward.
