Jonas is the coordinator of his group L'Espoir 1, 2 & 3. He is a merchant. The members of this group all live in the DE BOR DE MER region, where electricity is rare and potable water is very limited. Jonas has been running his business for seven years. Before starting it, he was a student.

Jonas would like to use this loan to invest in a variety of goods (cosmetics, shoes, clothing). He hopes that his loan will help him to expand his business selling various products. Other members of the group have need of a loan for such businesses. He says that his main challenge is to become a big shopkeeper.

Il es un commercant. tous les membres de ce groupe vivent dans la région DE BOR DE MER où de l’électricité est rare et de l’eau est très limitée. Jonas a dirigé son commerce pendant 7 années. Avant de commencer ce commerce Jonas était un etudiant.

This loan is designed for a borrower or group of borrowers in Haiti. Esperanza is one of the few MFIs currently working in the northeast region of the country. Through lending, the organization aims to stimulate economic growth and opportunity in a country that has suffered debilitating crises, including political instability, natural disasters and poverty. Esperanza lends primarily to groups of women who cross-guarantee each other's loans. They also receive financial literacy courses and health services. 

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
