Benkadi (L’Entente) Group's story

Benkadi is a group of women from the Hamdallaye neighborhood of Koutiala who are well acquainted and live in large traditional families. They average 30 years of age, are married and have at least three children. This group of women retails various products such as clothing and shoewear, food preparations, cosmetics and others.

To increase the size of their business activities, the group members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso loan program. They are on their third group loan.

Rokia is the Benkadi group member who sitting at the end holding a baby. She plans to use the loan to buy shoes and clothes from wholesalers. She gets her clothes from Koutiala. She then retails the clothes for cash, at home and at the market, to a diversified clientele.

Whereas other members of the Benkadi group expect to achieve an average profit of 77,000 CFA francs each during this loan cycle, Ms. Rokia expects to achieve 80,000 CFA francs.

In addition to repaying the loans they use some of the income to meet personal expenses and increase their stock-in-trade.
