Benkadi (L’Entente) Group

Benkadi is a group of women from the Hamdallaye neighborhood of Koutiala who are well acquainted and live in large traditional families. They average 30 years of age, are married and have at least three children. This group of women retails various products such as clothing and shoewear, food preparations, cosmetics and others.

To increase the size of their business activities, the group members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso loan program. They are on their third group loan.

Rokia is the Benkadi group member who sitting at the end holding a baby. She plans to use the loan to buy shoes and clothes from wholesalers. She gets her clothes from Koutiala. She then retails the clothes for cash, at home and at the market, to a diversified clientele.

Whereas other members of the Benkadi group expect to achieve an average profit of 77,000 CFA francs each during this loan cycle, Ms. Rokia expects to achieve 80,000 CFA francs.

In addition to repaying the loans they use some of the income to meet personal expenses and increase their stock-in-trade.

Benkadi est un regroupement des femmes de Koutiala quartier Hamdallaye qui se connaissent bien et qui vivent dans de grandes familles traditionnelles. Elles ont en moyenne 30 ans, sont mariées et en moyenne 3 enfants.
Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce d’articles divers tels, les habits et chaussures, de la restauration, les produits cosmétiques et divers etc.
Pour augmenter la taille de leurs activités, les membres ont décidé d’intégrer le programme crédit de Soro Yiriwaso. Elles sont à leur troisième prêt de groupe.
Rokia est un membre du groupe Benkadi assise au bout avec son bébé.
Elle compte utiliser son prêt pour acheter des chaussures des habits avec les grossistes. Elle se procure de ces habits à Koutiala. Elle vend ces habits en détail et au comptant à la maison et au marché et à une clientèle diverse.
Tandis que les autres membres du groupe Benkadi comptent réaliser un bénéfice moyen 77000CFA chacune au cours de ce cycle Mme Rokia compte réaliser 80 000FCFA.
En plus du remboursement des prêts, elles utilisent une partie du revenu pour faire face aux dépenses personnel et augmenter son fond de commerce.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
