Group 7 At Lien Mac 1's story

Toan, pictured fifth from the left, makes about $37 (800,000 VND) every month working in the rice paddies. She is 49 years old and has two grown children. She has not been able to install a hygienic toilet at home. However, as a member of the local Women's Union since 1993, she recently joined a campaign to improve the community's sanitation and hygiene. With this loan, she and seven of her peers will each build a hygienic toilet at home that will improve their family's and the community's quality of life. With eight households making a commitment, this neighborhood will be able to enjoy better health by avoiding many of the common infections and diseases associated with the unsafe latrines currently being used.
