Samira is a married woman with three children, one in school and two adults. She owns a house that neither has electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees.
For the past two years, she has operated a shop kiosk business, selling to her neighbours and passersby. She mentioned seasonality as her major challenge. Samira dreams of establishing a wholesale shop in the future.
With the Kshs 30,000 loan, she wants to purchase sweets, biscuits, bread, milk, soft drinks, beans and cooking oil for resale. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
