Domitila's story

Domitila, who is 49- years old, is a hardworking woman. She lives with her children, who she loves very much and takes care of in the house she acquired a few years ago. She comes from an agricultural and ranching family. All of life's lessons have made her into an efficient farmer. She plants potatoes, corn and vegetables in addition to raising cows and planting alfalfa. Year after year, this business has allowed Domitila to support her family and have a leading role, together with her husband, in maintaining her family. Her husband now helps her with the business. Domitila is currently focusing on planting spinach and carrots as well as awaiting the potato and corn harvest. She does all of this for the good of her three children, who are her motivation to keep moving forward. She hopes to give them the best so they can improve their condition through their studies. This is Domitila's third loan with KIVA. She is happy, as she has the capital she needs to improve her business and thereby her quality of life. Domitila will invest the S/.3500 (USD $1,275) in the purchase of organic compost for her next planting.
