A loan of $600 helped to buy a cow.

Ebert Nomeli's story

Ebert, 26, is a young farmer who only completed ninth grade. He’s been married three years and already has a two-year-old daughter; his wife’s a housewife.

He’s farmed since the age of 18 having learned everything he knows from his father. He has a small car wash business in the city. To reach it he travels by bus every day for about 7 kilometers. He works 7 hours and then returns home to work in his fields.

The loan will be used to buy a cow to take advantage of the waste matter from his crops. He hopes to produce a little milk and sell its derivatives to improve his family’s quality of life.

Ebert’s goal is to produce cow’s milk not only to sell but also because he’d like to sell good quality cheese thus giving his family the life he was unable to have.
