Sonya's story

Sonya is 57 years old, she is a widow and is raising two children as well as running her business. Sonya has secondary education. As a main source of income for her family she does animal husbandry which she started fourteen years ago with the purchase of livestock for 8,000 som (KGS). Because of her hard work Sonya now has one milk cow and fifteen heads of small horned cattle. Her monthly income is 15,000 som. With the goal to further grow her business Sonya has come to the Microfinance bank Bai Tushum and Partners for a loan in the amount of 60,000 KGS to buy cows to increase the headcount of livestock. She plans to invest the income from the loan into further increase of her livestock and also save money to buy a car in the future.
