Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $275 helped to pay her children's education fees.

Norce's story

Norce is a 45-year-old widow. She has 5 children: Elisa, 25, in college; Albert, 22, a worker; Yacob, 22, in college; Fransisca, 18, just recently in college; and the last one is Yacomina, 15, just recently in Senior High School.

Since the death of her husband in 2002, Norce has struggled to raise her children alone in the best way she could, and was also slightly supported by her late husband's pension. A few years ago she tried to establish a kiosk business. Unfortunately, due to lack of capital and competition, her kiosk went bankrupt.

Currently, she leased the building of her kiosk to someone else, because she has been frequently ill. The need for her 3 children's education costs has led her to apply for a loan from TLM in the amount of IDR 3,000,000. The loan will be spent for the children's education fees.
