Dionicia's story

Dionicia is 38 years old and is single. She studied through primary school. She lives in her own house in the community of Tiraque. She has her five children her charge and they are all economically dependent on her. Dionicia's business is agricultural production. She explains that in a year she usually sells the following products, in the following quantities: Poatoes - 80 cargas [a unit of weight]; fava beans (green) - 60 cargas; wheat - 2 cargas; barley - 3 cargas; oca [a small tuber similar to a potato] - 20 carga. She plants these crops on her own land of about 1 hectare and on land she inherited from her parents of about 2 hectares. The pieces of land are located in the same community and they have irrigation. She lives in a rustic adobe house. With this loan she will buy chicken manure, seed potatoes, and agricultural chemicals. With future production she will improve her economic conditions and also the quality of life for her dependents.
