A loan of $2,000 helped to purchase calves, seeds and forage for the livestock, and fuel for the agricultural machinery.

Hasmik's story

Hasmik is a farmer from the village of Bagravan in Shirak region. She lives with her husband, three school-age daughters, and six-year-old son. Hasmik's husband supports her greatly in the everyday farming activities.

Hasmik is breeding a livestock of cows, calves and hens. She is also involved in cultivation of wheat, barley and grass. Farming is the only source of family income. As the needs of the family are growing day by day, Hasmik needs to enlarge her agribusiness to be able to meet the needs of the family.

A loan of USD 2,000 will be a huge support to this hardworking woman and her family, and will enable them to purchase new calves, seeds, forage for the livestock and fuel for the agricultural machinery.

As this is Hasmik’s first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative of Kiva and SEF. The First-Chance loan program provides loans to people who didn't have access to credit products before, because they have no credit history.

The family will be very thankful to the lenders for supporting them maintain and develop their agribusiness.
