Mohamed is 28 years old and lives with his child and his wife in the quarry neighborhood of the Baya community in the Selingue prefecture of the Sikasso region. He did not have the opportunity to attend school. He became interested in business early on, specifically in the purchase and sale of shop merchandise, rice, and other various items. He learned this business from his maternal uncle, who was once a large shopkeeper selling various items.

Due to the concern of satisfying his customers' growing needs, he decided to partner with Soro Yiriwaso. He is on his fourth individual loan which he will use to purchase various items from wholesalers in Bamako which he will then resell at retail in his neighborhood and surrounding villages, for cash and for credit, to a customer base made up of men and women.

Mohamed hopes to earn an average monthly profit of 85,000 francs CFA, which he will use to repay the loan and to reinvest the remainder in his business.
