A loan of $750 helped to buy chickens to resell.

Robert's story

Robert, 25, lives with his wife, Patricia, with whom he has a son that he cares for in the house he inherited from his mother-in-law. Starting at the very earliest hours of the day, he heads to the market to pluck dead chickens that he’ll subsequently distribute to butcher shops. Thanks to this enterprise he’s able to earn daily profits from his work.

He’s been in this business for a short amount of time but he affirms that he does very well because he has much demand and he delivers the meat ready to be sold. “It has to be of quality and the chickens must be clean which is why I want to expand the business since I’m one of the few around that does it,” he affirms. He’d like to get working capital to reach his goal. He comments that he also works in agriculture.

This is his first Kiva loan so he’s grateful for the support provided because it helped him cover some of his business expenses. He promises to be a responsible person and to make his payments punctually. Robert will use the 2,000 soles to buy chickens to resell.
