A loan of $2,750 helped a member to buy fabric, thread, scissors, and other sewing materials.

Nuevo Florecer (Cuenca) Group's story

The Nuevo Florecer loan group is comprised of eight female members and one male member who all work very hard to meet their common goal, which is to achieve stable homes for their families. They work in various sectors and despite the difficulties, they are never in a bad mood. They live in the city of Cuenca, which is known for being the birthplace of great artists and athletes. The city has four rivers and its historical center tells the city's history.

One of the members is Ruth, 34. She is married and has two children ages nine and seven. Both her children study in the city's school. Her husband works in an office furniture factory. They don't have their own home so they live in her mother's house, but independently.

Ruth is a sewing professional, since she studied for this career. She works as a dressmaker from home, making all kinds of dresses. She has been in this business for three years and works Monday through Saturday without a fixed schedule.

She will invest her loan money into buying fabric, thread, scissors, and other sewing materials that she needs.

Her goal is to expander her workshop.
