A loan of $1,425 helped to buy certified potato seeds to plant and agricultural supplies to maintain the crop.

Maria Eva's story

María Eva is a young 28-year-old woman who completed primary school. She is a single mother with one child and she makes her living planting and selling vegetables (potatoes). She lives with her parents who taught her to work the land at a very young age. They were not able to support her in her education so that taught her to work the land. On occasion she also plants staples like corn and beans but she only grows those for personal consumption and occasionally she sells them to her friends and neighbors in the area. The land she works is her own thanks to an inheritance her parents gave her. It is located very close to her house and she walks there to maintain her corn, bean, and potato crops. Her plans and dreams for the future are to be able to build her own house in addition to cultivating new crops on her land so as to strengthen her business and give her child the education she did not have due lack of financial support. She is requesting a loan from the COMIXMUL cooperative to buy agricultural supplies like manure, plant fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and certified potato seeds to be able to plant and maintain them.
