Blanca Nely
Blanca, 57, is a married woman and mother of five children. She started selling merchandise via catalog five years ago thanks to a friend who taught her how to do this work. Her main customers are family members, friends and neighbors around the area where she lives. She offers body creams, shampoo and face creams, among others and uses income earned to contribute to her household economy.

Sometimes it’s difficult to pay some of her bills because her customers don’t make their payments. However, she’s learned to overcome these obstacles in order to continue. She’s asking for the loan’s support to buy merchandise at wholesale (body cream, cosmetics, perfumery, face cream, etc.) in order to improve her sales and increase her profit margin because she’ll be able to take advantage of discounts and buy products at a lower cost which will allow her to generate higher income to continue watching over her family’s well-being.

Blanca dreams with being able to use her work to continue moving forward and to reach her dream of owning her own store and to save up to buy a house of her own too where she can enjoy better quality of life and economic stability.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
