Teing is 35 years old and married. She lives in a village located in the Phnom Proek district of Cambodia. She has three children, one of whom is still in school and another one is too young for school. Her primary source of income is from the rice and corn plantation of a six-hectare farmland. She has been in this business for several years.
She is applying for a loan of 2,000,000KHR to buy fertilizer, insecticide and seeds for her farmland. This is the third loan for Teing with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, and she has completely paid back the previous loans. With this loan, she will be able to buy decent food for her family. She hopes to increase her crop yields and make a better life and keep her children in school until tertiary level.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
